Tugger
Hi Gramma Shelley,

This is Tugger!
Frank went to play golf so I can finally get on the computer and send you some pictures of me and my friends and tell you what I've been doing in Pennsylvania. I've been real busy and I've grown a lot in three weeks. I bet I'm twice as big as I was when I left my home in Canada. That's because the food is great here - Frank is a good cook - and I love to eat! He puts gravy on my dog food and I gobble it up. Plus when Frank and Irene eat, if I look real sad like I haven't eaten for a week, I get little bits of real good stuff like toast, bacon, or beef stew. They weren't hard to train at all. And this week Frank took me and Bandit for a ride to a place called McDonalds and we had a cheeseburger. It was the best thing I ever had to eat. I hope we do that again soon.

Let me tell you what my days are like. I have a nice wooden box in the kitchen where I sleep. It has pillows and my two stuffed friends - my teddy and my doggie. They sleep with me and keep me warm and safe. After a good night's sleep if I have to tinkle at 530am all I have to do is scream and Frank takes me out. I know he hates getting up early, he's a night person, so I go back to sleep for a few hours and let him recover. After breakfast we go downstairs by Frank's computer desk and we play tug or chase a ball. That's fun. Other times I going hunting for birds - I look behind the TV, the stereo, and if I could just get a little bit further under the sofa I know I'll find one. This usually gets Frank's attention and we may play rough house. That's where he wears heavy gloves and a thick longsleeved shirt and I get to try to rip his clothes off.I think I like this the best. This is also where Bandit lives. I like him, if I give him a couple of kisses then I'm free to climb on his head and sit on his back. This is real comfortable. Bandit usually stays on his chair but I'm getting to use it too(see picture). Maybe someday I'll have a chair too. After lunch I usually rest next to Frank (see picture) but if I ever want to go in my bed - Frank calls it the bunker - all I have to do is tinkle on the floor and Frank puts me right in the bunker. Later in the afternoon I help Frank cook dinner in the kitchen and we wait for Irene to come home from work. Irene is something called a Pharmacist but Frank works at home trading something called stocks. I know he likes this because sometimes during the day he starts yelling and cheering watching the computer. I don't understand all this but it's fun to watch him. After dinner I wait to play with my duck with Irene (See picture) and sometimes she takes me to school - Frank calls it bootcamp - but it's fun. I have Irene trained to give me a treat if I sit or stay put. Plus I get to sniff all the other dogs at school. After all this I'm beat and it's time to sleep and wait for the next great day.

So as you can see I like it here. I think I'm falling in love with Frank and Irene and Bandit. Tell Mommy not to worry about me, I'm doing fine. I'll write you again when I get the chance.

Dear Grandma Shelley:

I could not let any Holiday go by without letting you know I am thinking about you and Garnett, Darren and Candice - and of course my doggie mommy Miss Little Bridget -------I want to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving ----I will never ever forget you.

I have not stopped one minute since my last e-mail to you --my doggie life passes so fast I forget what day it is -- everyday is something new my Mommy and Daddy are always busy and their Busy is MY BUSY ... I go everywhere -- I even went to get a hair cut with Daddy --everyone is starting to recognize me and even if there are one or two times I could not go -- Daddy tells me everyone is asking for me -- I guess he should take me no matter what and then he does not have to deal with the questions.

Me and my Purina Pro Plan have me weighing in now @ 34 lbs. -- I am solid muscle -- I guess you could say -- handsome for a young dog -- I will be 7 months old on Movember 28th, 2004 -- I am enjoying the changing of the seasons and love to run in the leaves and slide -- I love the squirrels
in the yard but they hate me -- I love the chip munks byt they hate me too -- who cares -- my Mommy and Daddy love me so much and are always there for me -- I told you in my last e-mail -- I sleep where the important people sleep -- in a King Size Bed -- with a really puffy white comforter around me in between my Mommy and daddy -- guess what -- Mommy kisses me in the nighttime when she wakes up for a few seconds -- I just take it all in and love it.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving in my house - Mommy is cooking for 16 and having 20 in all for dessert - can't wait for this deal to happen - think of all the attention I will get - I can't stand it - I want to look my best - I am going to PetSmart this morning - getting a bath and having my nails cut - and ears cleaned - but Mommy does not want my feathers cut - she said they are too beautiful - I guess she knows best because when she looks at me she looks like she is going to cry - so leave them on that is what I say --

I only had one bad experience a few weeks ago - I got into the bathroom and went into the shower area - I know I am not suppposed to go in there - but you know me and how I love to investigate - I stole a plastic razor from the shelf - when Mommy saw me - I only had the stick part in my mouth - Mommy started crying and Yelling - ho no - oh no -- Daddy came running - they called my vet for an emergency on a Sunday and I went over as an emergency - Mommy was crying the whole time - I had emergency x-rays of my throat, stomach and colon - when the doctor first came out Daddy was trying to calm Mommy down and still stay positive - the vet first told Mommy and Daddy if I swallowed it - I would have to have immediate emergency surgery - Daddy said DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO SVE HIM - HE IS OUR BABBY - after about 30 minutes of the vet poking me and x-raying me which I really hated - the vet came out and told Mommy and Daddy - he was nothing - absolutely nothing and maybe I hid it somewhere - Mommy was so excited - she jumped up on the vet and hugged him and kissed him -- Daddy shook his hand and patte him on the back - I knew how much they loved me but WOW - when I did something dangerous did they really get upset --

I guess if I could of talked - I would of told them I bit it off and shoved it under the pillow on the couch - Oh well $300 later - they did not complain once - so again - Grandma Shelley - just want yo to know I am up to my energetic self and giving them as much "entertainment" as they can stand.

I will send you another e-mail soon - I still dream of you and want you to know I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving - be assured you know I will be there in my handsome self on Thursday - soaking up as much attention as I can from every person that walks in the house - I Love You -

Ataboy's Lukas Indiana
Big, Big kisses to my doggie mommy Bridget

Dearest Grandma and Grandpa

I having my mommy email you and letting you know how I am doing. I sent you some pictures to show you. Do you think they are spoiling me! I am adjusting well. I am doing very good getting housebroken. Just one or two accidents a day. I am eating my 1-1/2 cups of food a day. I have a couple of dog beds and lots of toys. I have visited my new relatives. They think I am so cute. I have had my first bath. I am going to take my nap now, but I will email you more pictures.

Gramma Shelley,
This is Jenna, I finally got a chance to write. My first month in New York has been really busy. Wow, I can't believe it has been a month since I left Canada to come to my new home. First off, I am doing great. Lots of people have come to see me and when I go to the park everyone makes a big fuss over me. I really like all the attention I am getting. The whole walking on a leash thing was a little hard to get used to and I still get tangled up sometimes. One time I tripped over it and then I had to have a bath. I sort of fell right into a mud puddle, oops! But I think I am getting the hang of it now.

I have learned I have to go outside to go potty. The only problem is some times my people don't move fast enough when I say I have to go and I have an "accident." But it has only happened a few times. I feel real bad when this happens but they tell me it's OK and I will get better at it when I get older. Personally, I think they are the ones that need to work at it.

I have also learned how to sit and they always like to shake paws with me. I do it, but it seams kind of silly. I also like to come and see them when they make this weird sound, I think they call it whistle? Whatever that means, but it sounds funny and I get a treat when I come see what it is. They keep telling me I am so smart for only being 13 weeks old.

I like my new sisters, Alli is really fun to play with. We wrestle and play all the time, one of these days I will get the best of her. Mandy doesn't play much with me, but I think she likes me because she lets me take a nap with her on the couch. They say she is old and doesn't like to play. I'll keep trying, maybe one of these days she will see how much fun it is.

I had my first trip to the doctor and I got more shots. It was kind of scary and I cried a bit, but I got a bone at the end so it was worth it. I heard talks that I have to go back soon, all I know is I better get a bone again.

Tell Biskit and Copper I said hello, and I miss everyone. I hope to get to see everyone again sometime this summer.

Love, Jenna
PS Tell Candice she should be getting a package in the mail from me soon.

Dear Gramma Shelley,

This week I have been as good a boy as a healthy, energetic, Brit my age could be. My Mom took me for a car ride. BTW, I really like to go places and smell new things. And what a new thing I got to do at Pete Thumann's out in Waller County, TX. I heard all the good ol' boys raising a racket when we pulled in. And they were saying stuff like "Let us young Brits loose and we"ll show you a great time." So I wanted to run with them, you can be sure. I heard Pete say to take me out and he asked my Mom, "Where did you get this dog?" Then I was out in a huge big ol' field and Pete threw a live quail right at me and I jumped on it right away and pinned that baby down. Just as I was playing with the first one, Pete threw out another one that flew up and I ran down the field trying my best to catch it, and almost did. I heard a gun shot and turned around to see what was what. Pete said that I had lots of confidence. Mom was looking a little stunned, I thought, but she'll get over it, she keeps rolling with my punches, don't you know. Pete told Mom that I was a very intelligent dog. He said, "They sold you a good dog." He wanted to sign me up right then. He was talking about the weather in Texas and that it is gonna get hotter soon and the training is less effective. He asked if my sire was a Dual Champion. Brian, another trainer there, brought out a Brit just about a month older than I am. He wanted to show Mom where I should be about this time with the training. I had to WAIT (what - me WAIT???) while the other Brit ran and pointed a bird in the brush and got a few lessons on how to stand and keep up his tail. Then we both got to run and I chased around after him but I came back to check on Mom a time or two. Mom and I went on home with two very quiet quail in a sack. But, later on, I found them in our field and carried them back to our yard several times. I did what Mom calls a proud little strut. Uh Huh Uh Huh

Today Mom took me to a dog show to meet dogs and people. I heard all those dogs barking when we pulled up and I barked right back. Mom was holding on to me as I was trying to race around the grounds and smell everything pronto when all of a sudden I saw the funniest sight and not only put on the brakes but decided to exit NOW. I don't know IF it was a dog. It had these curls coming off of it all over the place. Mom said it was okay but I wasn't too sure of that walking curler thing. Then we found the Brits and sniffed lots of noses and I kind of liked that. After a while, I went back to my car crate and stayed there with Dad while Mom went back in because one of those Brits was in the Best of Group. Then after that two ladies came back to our car with Mom. They let me greet them and show them attention and then they checked my head, my shoulders, my tail set, they checked me all over. They made sounds to see my expression, and they told my Mom "I'd show him" so I may go to a show in Navasota, TX, in April. But I have to learn when to do this stand thing. I can do it, I'm a quick study. And I can turn on the charm, too, and give them all that look that they just love to see, if it makes them all THAT happy. I'll get a treat, yummy yummy yummy, I'm always hungry.

Well, tomorrow could be another winner of a day. Ya never know. Gram, I think I'm talkin' Texan! Even my howl has a long ol' drawl, but you'd know it anywhere, right?

Love ya, Gram,

Hi Grandma Shel & Grandpa Garnett,

I just wanted to write a quick email to let you know how I am doing! Things with me are great! I am completely settled into my home with mommy and daddy, and meeting so many new friends. I am getting smarter every day - well, that's what my mommy tells me. I have mastered some key words now like: sit, stay, scratchies (boy I love it when I get those), kisses, home, walk, outside, pee-pees and car. I am so-so at the come command, but it's getting better! I still like to bite & eat anything I can get my puppy teeth on. I get in trouble for it half the time, but I still try my luck!

I just love my Pro Plan puppy food, and daddy says that I am getting bigger every time he sees me! He is such a kidder sometimes. But, I do feel more secure, and not so wobbly on my legs. The Pro Plan biscuits are my absolute favorite. Mommy sometimes puts them in my kong. It's hard to get out, but I am a smart cookie and can get it out with some trying!

The last two weekends were really cool. Mommy & daddy took me up to the family's cottage in the Haliburton area. Wow, that was awesome! The walks in the fallen, coloured leaves was the best. I had the chance to meet Mini & Spencer (a cocker spaniel & an English Setter). They didn't care for me much because I am still very puppy. But, eventually they got use to me! Mommy took a picture of me on the deck at the cottage and I thought I would send it along to you. Look how absolutely cute I am! I love how my eyes are changing colour.

This Thursday I am going with mommy to see Scott (my vet that I was telling you about). I like the vet, so I am excited to see him. Hey, you want to hear something cool? My vet, Scott, is a guest on certain nights on CP 24 (the City TV station in Toronto) giving pet advice to callers. It was so neat to see him on TV! I guess you can say that Scott is a celebrity.

How are things going up at the farm? Are all the other doggies doing well? Tell them all that I say hi.
I miss you both & hope that you are doing well!

Hi Nonna! Hi Poppa!

My new mom and dad let me write you now that I've been here a while and gotten used to my new home. I miss you! How's everything there?

Things are great here. I'm finally getting my humans under control, taking them out for regular walks, drives in the car, and getting them into a regular sleep pattern….who ever heard of 8 straight before now? Well, now that they've explained the need for all that sleep, I understand, but…man…it gets boring at night sometimes. My humans bought me a whole lot of toys, a new crate, a bed, bowls, collars, leash's etc…well, a lot of stuff to keep me busy and happily chewing anything but the socks…you get the picture.

I've got em' right where I want em'…eating right out of my little paw….My Dad calls me his little baby and likes to snuggle me a lot but I like to play rough with him a lot more than snuggling. It's my mommy I like to snuggle with…and the little stinker that I have to share my hard earned attention with...they call him Ty. He's good for running around and helping me get some exercise so I can keep my shaply figure…wouldn’t want to lose the trim ankles, of course.

Because I know how much you must've already missed me I've been dictating this to my mom since I cant do it myself (stupid opposable thumb!) and I've attached a few pictures that were taken last night. Love you and speak with you soon…

Hi Shelley it's me Kili just dropping you a line to let you know I LOVE MY NEW HABITAT!!!! WOW there are pine trees everywhere and a big lake, which is a little overwhelming for me right now.........but I did have a few drinks out of it. I'm looking forward to swimming when I'm a little older.
I am doing well getting housebroken, I only have a few accidents a day. My mom and dad love me to bits and treat me like a "KING". I'm so proud of myself as my attention span is much better. I can sit now and I fetch my toys and even bring them back to mom and dad!! I'm not sure if I like having a bath yet, but I am getting better. I have met Betsy the dog next door, sometimes she growls at me when I get too excited. Eventually she gets over it and we start running around the properties. She is 10 years old and much more laid back than I am. I also met Buddy, he is 6 years old, he comes over to visit once a week. Zachary is my favourite friend, he's buddy's master. Zachary is 11 years old and he taught me how to go up and down the stairs. I'm feeling a bit sleepy now and I need a nap, so until next time you take care and I sure hope to see you in Coniston this fall.
Here are a few pictures so you can see how big I am.

Hi Gramma Shelley,

It has been a long time since I wrote so I thought I would tell you what I did last weekend.
My neighbor Sparty is a 2 yr old english pointer. Sparty has been out hunting alot but he recently lost his best friend Jesse, a german shorthair pointer. She got too old and couldn't walk anymore. He was sad for awhile but I think having me around makes it a little easier for him. He and I are now best friends and we play outside together every chance we get. Last weekend, Sparty and his owner Tom, and Mel and I went to a pheasant preserve near Cabela's in Dundee, Michigan. Tom and Mel had been talking alot about going for a while and they finally got around to taking us.
Well I have to say I had a great time. I got to go out first and I pointed 2 pheasants. I was really excited. Mel kept telling me WHOA. I guess he thinks I don't what I am supposed to do. Doesn't he know who my parents are? Anyways, after Tom shot them, I ran to find them. However, I didn't pick them up and retrieve. I just stood there and smelled them all over. Mel has since been working with me on retrieving the birds. I think I will try it next time. Hopefully that will be soon.

Those pheasants are pretty tricky. One of them decided to run when I pointed him. I followed him all through the cornfield for quite a while before he decided to flush. Someone should tell the birds they are supposed to fly and that dogs are supposed to do the running. I guess I didn't do too bad because I overheard Tom telling Mel that he was very impressed with the way I performed in the field, especially since I was a "first timer", whatever that means!

Mel keeps telling me that if I keep it up, he may take me out to some hunt tests and see if I can become an AKC Junior Hunter. Whatever, as long as I can keep hunting for birds. It is so much fun!

I saw that Yahtzee and Uno are now show champions. That is great. Tell them I said congratulations, I am so proud of them. Maybe someday I will get to see them on TV. My family always stops and watches a dog show just to see if Dad will be on it. So far, no Ripley. Maybe at the next Westminster show.

I keep hearing Mel and Julie talking about bringing me out to see you guys sometime next year. I think they have a ski trip in February and might need someone to watch me. They say I might get to come stay at your kennel. I hope so, I can't wait to see Mommy and brother and sister. I will be sure to have Mel call you to set something up if I can come.

Well I should be going now. I think Sparty is outside so I should go get some good exercise in before it gets too dark.

I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Make sure you show them to Grandpa Garnett.

Good Bye until next time,
Love,

Hi Gramma Shelley,

Things are good. I am learning lots of tricks. I sit when asked, well most of the time. And I try really hard to come when I'm called. I love to bug Marvin, the bird....but he bugs me when I'm trying to sleep. I still love to chew and even though I find secret hiding spaces my Mom always knows and finds me.

My new family loves me very much and try really hard to make me understand. Dylan is the best at getting me to do the long down. Favien is the most fun to run with. Sebastien gives the best treats and I would roll over many times just to get that cheese. Trynity falls asleep on me, I like being her pillow. Quinn reads to me and I try not to chew his books and I know to never ever eat his Thomas trains or he will cry that I am murdering them.

Here are some pictures. Thought you might like to see how big and pretty I have gotten.
